Budget Integrity in the Balance: President Tinubu Addresses Allegations Amidst National Assembly
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday told the leadership of the 10th Senate that he would always encourage cooperation between the executive and judiciary to advance the nation.
He asserted that the integrity of the National Assembly remains unaffected by the budget padding allegation made by the suspended senator, Abdul Ningi.
Tinubu made these remarks when he hosted the Senate’s leadership at a dinner on Thursday to break the Ramadan fast at the State House, Abuja.

In a statement released in the early hours of Friday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the nation’s leader noted his familiarity with the budget’s arithmetic.
He argued that those alleging budget padding lack an understanding of the budget’s arithmetic.
“I am well-versed in the budget’s arithmetic and the figures that I submitted to the National Assembly, and I am aware of the figures that were returned.
“I appreciate your swift handling of the budget. Thank you very much.
Those discussing malicious embellishment in the budget do not grasp its arithmetic and have not considered the baseline of what I submitted. However, your integrity remains intact,” Tinubu stated.
The President thanked the lawmakers, suggesting that Nigerians are nearing a pivotal moment in overcoming economic challenges.
“The natural challenge we are facing will soon be a thing of the past. With regards to the current economic difficulty, we are on the verge of turning a corner.
Our revenue has seen improvement. All that is required of us is to control expenditures and better manage ourselves.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel, and Nigerians will soon have a reason to smile again,” the President affirmed.
Tinubu also expressed gratitude to the members of the National Assembly for their prompt attention to the Student Loan Amendment Bill, calling for increased tolerance, forgiveness, and charity during Ramadan.
He assured that those responsible for the killing of soldiers in Delta State would face justice, cautioning that his administration would not tolerate attacks on the military and security infrastructure.

We will continue to support and defend our sovereignty, our individual rights to exist, and we will succeed in eradicating poverty from our land,” the President added.
