The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has taken decisive action by suspending its National Secretary, Oladipupo Olayokun, for alleged involvement in anti-party activities and other infractions.
The suspension was initiated by the executive members of his local constituency in Ward 5, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Olayokun, who is also a member of the National Working Committee of the NNPP, received the letter of suspension on August 6, titled “Notice of Suspension.”
The letter was officially signed by 25 members of the executive team of the ward, with an additional 25 ward members endorsing the decision.
The party’s presidential candidate in the last election, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the founder of the NNPP, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, were informed of the suspension as well.

The letter accused Olayokun of engaging in anti-party activities, neglecting his duty, and promoting factionalism within the party. Additionally, he was allegedly identified as the mastermind behind the crisis that affected the Ogun state chapter of the NNPP.
The suspension was based on investigations conducted at the ward level, which revealed that Olayokun had shown a lack of commitment to party activities.
Moreover, it was noted that he did not vote for the NNPP’s presidential candidate or governorship candidate during the last general election, an act deemed as gross indiscipline by the party.
The letter further cited violations of specific articles in the NNPP’s 2022 Constitution as the grounds for Olayokun’s suspension, including Article 39.2 subsections 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 11.
Consequently, the ward executive team strongly advised Olayokun to cease representing himself as a member and National Secretary of the NNPP in light of the disciplinary measures taken against him.

The suspension serves as a stern message from the party, emphasizing its commitment to upholding discipline, unity, and adherence to its constitution.
